Skills For Living was established in 1994 and has expanded over the years into a large company supporting young people and adults with a diverse range of needs. We provide the highest standards of service provision ensuring the service user is central to all decision making. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide Supported Living, Domiciliary Services, Residential Homes and Community Opportunities where we have scored a 3 star excellent.

We are registered with CQC for the following Regulated Activities:

Personal Care
Care Homes Without Nursing

We have contracts with Leicestershire County Council to provide Supported Living in Hinckley and Bosworth, Oadby and Wigston and Coalville.

We support people on Personal Budgets all around the county.

We have core contracts to provide residential homes.

Our residential settings are ordinary sized houses to prevent institutionalism and protect vulnerable adults. Skills for Living boasts opportunity, spontaneity and flexibility in order to offer maximum choice. We teach and support service users to develop and maintain daily life and social skills in ways that promotes the individual’s independence and personal choice, in order to live successful and fulfilled lives within the community. Person Centred Planning includes individual Aims, Goals, Dreams and Ambitions. We also include Health Action Plans, which incorporate physical activity plans for optimum health; Communication Passports, Support Plans, and comprehensive timetables with programmes of acitivities through out the day evening and weekend of their choice. Service users are encouraged to develop their skills to be able to live as independently as possible.

 

We have a key-worker and health care facilitator system in place. Service users are encouraged to access typical activities such as: Hydrotherapy, Swimming, Exercise and Fitness Programmes, Football, Yoga, Aromatherapy and Relaxation. Stress management is also encouraged. Skills For Living has several tutors who provide Numeracy & Literacy to develop budgeting skills, Music therapy and Art sessions for self expressions and sensory development. Individuals are also encouraged to build up a portfolio of their work. This provides evidence of their learning and development. We have comprehensive Quality Assurance processes and all our services are reviewed on a regular basis.
